This 10% rule has me confused. How are people on layoff able to work? Are they still able to collect unemployment for weeks that they don't work a full 40 hrs? Here in NJ we either have a guaranteed bid start or work off of the 8am shape...... The nons are constantly knocking the union jobs because of these layoffs. They use the layoff as an excuse for not wanting to join the union or being paid overtime. Some nonunion drivers that I know are only getting 30-35 hours in 5 days. No one tells them about this 10% rule that allows union men to made 20 hours overtime while on this layoff.
