That's why you should read the books and know what you are talking about.. and what the FairTax is about. The idea of NOT taxing everything under the sun is to limit pricing to existing prices for items such as homes and cars, etc... items that a person with a $40k and up annual income might purchase, while LOWERING prices for items purchased by most all people under a $40k income (thus the working poor, elderly... would pay LESS for items purchased all the time by them). Also, keep in mind that all those foreigners that by real estate and boats and cars, etc... here in this country... are paying that tax.
Now, compared to the FairTax which is laid out entirely for someone to read and see how it works and why it works... show me ONE OTHER IDEA... flat tax, whatever... that has it all planned and figured and explained... and to the point where 73 current members of Congress from both parties support and back this plan? Show me one? You can't, because there are none. Flat tax is merely a concept, an idea... nothing solid, nothing planned out or figured out... and there are a hundred different versions of what a "flat tax" should be and how it should work.
You are stating you are all for a "flat tax" even though there isn't even a singular defined workable plan for one out there (meaning... what is it are you for? LOL) while you are against a FairTax Plan and you know absolutely nothing about it, no matter that it actually has backing and is an exisiting proposed bill in Congress with Congressional backing of 73 members.
Makes sense to me. Not. Read the books and learn for yourself.. what a concept... and then argue for something else if you still are able to. I was a proponent of the flat tax idea until I read about the FairTax, and read the books. No comparison at all. The challenge is... you actually have to want to read and learn about it... don't rely upon what I or anyone else tells you.
I should add, since you favor retention of the IRS and a federal Income tax, just with a different name (yep, makes sense to me)... the
US is the only remaining country of the 30 major industrialized nations in the world with a national income tax on people, businesses...everything. Think about that.
