I took an oath years ago to protect and defend the constitution of the united states against all enemies, foreign and domestic... if this country goes towards socialism I believe you will see an uprising of freedom loving people pick up their guns while clinging to their religion and take the country back, I will be with them. God forbid it goes that way but with Pelosi from the socialist state of California and the smarmey senator from nevada harry reid wanting even more socialist policies than BHO and believe me they will control obama, they will deliver what they talk about on TV... if that dosn't scare any american I don't understand why, unless they just watch TV and do no research for themselves... Don't get me wrong BUSH BLEW IT, but don't throw the baby out with the bath water...

the forum won't let me post the 2 links i quickly got on why europe and canada are trying to get out of socialized medicine, I have to have 15 posts first, but you can look it up your self google socialized medicine in europe

DONT BE AN IDIOT... research, don't drink the kool aid the press and most TV is giving out...

Mickey,

If you're refering to the Libertarian web-site, I've seen it. Needless to say, I disagree with their assessment. I don't disagree with all Libertarian thought, but I do on many issues.

Look, America will never be a Solcialist country in the way most people think. We Americans equate Socialism to the Totalitarian regime of the USSR, or the Communists in Asia and tend to label any "social" program as something akin to those Totalitarian regimes.

The type of social programs most progressives want are generally around universal health care, education, civil rights,
etc.. I personally believe that there are things government can do better than the private sector - Defense, Infrastructure, Education, Health Care, Energy... These are hudge efforts and require national regulation and controls to ensure every citizen benefits. I do not advocate nationalizing all these segments, but I do advocate removing the profit motives and reclasification as "public utilities", regulated for the benefit of "all" Americans.

As far as European health care goes, no it's not perfect, but it is fair and everyone is covered. Please look a the following link and watch the videos. It is an excellent program on the types of health care plans in industrialized countries. BTW, we're rated 37th in the world for health care...

FRONTLINE: sick around the world: five countries: health care systems -- the four basic models | PBS

There is a legitimate argument that by freeing corporations and labor from the health care burden, corporations could become more competitive and labor more responsive...

Also, believe me when I say I've taken no Kool Aid and I do read, browse the Web, watch the pundits, and obviusly hang out in the blogs... I do not follow and particular ideology. I am socially liberal and fiscally conservative. I do believe in personal liberties, freedoms, and resposibility. I also believe that if I can assist others, it's my duty and priviledge to do so, and I believe my government should do so on my behalf when the effort is too big. I find it paticualrly odd (and disturbing) that America proclaims to feel tha say way about the world, but can't bring itself to pratice it at home.

I do believe the Kool Aid has been drunk by those supporting the "conservative revolution" propelled by the election of Ronald Reagan. I believe the last 30 years have retarded an American evolution begun after WWII and continued up until Reagan's corination. Our current crises are a direct result of policies and laws of these revolutionaries. It was a "me" revolution, instead of a "we" revolution and has molded most political discourse heard for the last three decades.

I believe there's more to America than the "free market", and as current events seem to support, that Capitalist can not be trusted to self regulate or act as responsible coporate citizens. A lesson we should have learned from the late 20s, early 30s...

I firmly believe in a better America. An America more representative of the diversity in our people and cultures with more tolerance and respect for differing views.

I think there are great opportunities ahead for improving the way our government works, both fiscally and socially and I too am willing to fight for it.

/Peace
