Default What being a Teamster means to me

First off, lets just not attack my thread. If your anti union, this thread is not meant for you. It is meant to say what being a Teamster means to me. It is not about sick pay , vacations or O/T pay. It is about brotherhood. Helping a brother when he/she needs it. Feeling proud that your one of many who fought hard and long and took major scarifices for the next generation of members to come along. I like the quality of people the Union attracts, some of the finest of blue collar workers I have met. Some dont even know your name, but they treat you like they have been your friend for many years, because your a Teamster. I see Yellow , ABF, Roadway, Con - Way guys on docks all day and not one of them are unpleasant. Many of them I have talked to are just plain good people and that makes me feel proud to be part of this huge family of brothers. I may work for a small company that pays peanuts but they all still treat me like a Teamster. Bennies are just one of those things that come with the job and the CBA, they vary by company, but the brotherhood is solid. I guess my bottom line here is a man can be many things in life, many good things to be proud of. But next to my wife and kids for me is being a Teamster. How can anyone who is a Teamster not be proud ? If your not please read some history on our Union. Many brothers died for what we have today, you can bet they where proud and I bet they still are.
