I will give my thoughts regarding being a Teamster.
This from the Union forum
You all know by now where I stand as an (X) Teamster member, with all the negative deallings I had with all of my local union represenitives.
But as far as the way I came up from the mid 60's.
Bad equipment,non-power steering,poorly designed transmissions.
Floor loads that had to be unloaded,or loaded with rollers.
No shrink wrap, only band iron, banding on the few skids we did have.
The picket lines with the strikes I was a part of.
I put this all out to say most of the other brother Teamsters I worked with as well as the drivers working at competing LTL companies.
We were all a really tight bunch.
All the Teamster that started in my day are all retired now.
But we are still close, whenever I see them around town,we shoot the breeze about whats going on at UPS Freight, and of course the old days in trucking.
So other than the union leaders that branded me as trouble from the days before I became a Teamster.
I feel to this day I was proud to work as a International Brotherhood of Teamsters.
Back in the day we were the best of the best in the LTL trucking Industry.
I'm also confessing that I may have made a big mistake,by being really put out about my lack of union representation, when I took a withdrawl.
That if I didn't have so much debt.
I could of hung on with day work?
I'd of had 30 years of union credit by 1997.
But that's a lot of wishful thinking now.
I really needed a full time job,and Overnite was there for me.
We'll see what happens with the Teamsters, and UPS.
Like I've posted a few times in the past, I've forgiven every rotten union leader that did me wrong.
I hope the new Teamsters are doing better by all of their members now days.
