i too have a ford ranger. my cb is mounted under the heater controls. i simply removed the "tray" which is useless. you COULD use sheet metal screws into the headliner, BUT you had better use small ones, not more than say 1/4" in lenght, and then in my ranger, there is a seperation (?) space between the driver side and passenger side that is "double wall" so to speak. although i cannot remember right now, if you were to remove that tray under the heater controls, there is a "bar" that you might be able to use for mounting. then too, i can "hide" the cb by simply putting a rag over it...........you can't do that with a headliner mounting.......
