To explain this now... That ground plane star thing isn't a "ground plane" if it isn't grounded. It being mounted on the antenna like that makes it "hot", meaning it's radiating rf. your car/ vehicle is the "ground plane". Not trying to be a total turd about it, just trying to explain it where alot of folks can understand what I mean.
