I probably should not say this, but I will anyway.
I was a member of TDU back in the 70`s when I was full of piss and vinager, and wanted to change the world. Then one day a good teamster brother told me that they were communist. That bothered me,after comming back from Nam fighting them people,to hear that I was a member of an organization that belives that way.I started to listen to these TDU people more carefully and the more I listened the more they told how they supported socialism and it was no secret ,they did not hide it,so I dropped my membership with their orgaization because I don`t agree with that form of rule. However I do believe it is their right to voice their opinion and run for office in our union. I have not followed the TDU over the years and it is very possible that they have gotten away from that way of thinking, but I doubt it.
So all I can say to the young members of this great orgaization is ask alot of questions before you join an organization within the teamsters, and always remember that your a Teamster first.
