I talked to a road driver today at little rock who had a new 18000 lock up on him in a curve on Hwy 65 North of Harrison AR.
According to the driver he was driving into a corner and the tractor locked up he had no control of the pedals till it brought him down to 20 MPH he had to just hold on for the ride. This happens without warning if the computer in the tractor senses you are leaning too much to keep you from rolling a set. I was told this system will be on all 18000's sterlings and Mack's.
This sounds like a bad idea to me it looked good on paper and bad in real life. The computer has no idea what condition the road is in ICE SNOW, RAIN. What happens if you are in high wind or the road tilts all of a sudden like 55 south coming into west Memphis.
I think we will have to right up every 18000 as break defect in case it locks up on you and causes you to get rear ended?

On the bright side how could the company EVER get an accident ruled preventable when you have no control over the pedals ??

Man, That is scary as CRAP !!! I hope there is some way to get this system side-lined before someone gets injured or killed.

Was their any training or meetings about this new item ?

The trucks were not supposed to get out to the system before we all got to see the video says management.
I drove one yesterday no problems but i was on HWY 40 east bound no major curves no rain or ice or snow to deal with.

I did not know nothing about this.....

I saw my first 18 in the yard yesterday. I didn't realize we were going back to Mack. :(
