Default ABF acquired a company. Anybody know who?

It was revealed in today's earnings conference call that ABF acquired a small 3PL company. But they said the company was too small to name. Anybody know who it was?

Don't acquisitions have to be reported to the Teamsters?

3PL stands for 'Third Party Logistics.' They typically don't own any trucks or trailers, so they don't have any drivers. Most of them do warehousing. They also contract with other trucking companies to move freight for their customers. So, they may use us or they may use another company. (But I think that the goal is for the 3PL company to use ABF drivers.) But I still don't know how much the Teamsters knows about this.

Hell they could buy a 2PL right now and it could go under the radar of the Teamsters. Other things on their mind. But to answer your question, no I hadn't heard of the acquisition!

Haha! 2PL!

Well, one of those banker companies commented on it, and here's what they said:

"ABFS did purchase a small domestic 3PL in 2Q, but did not disclose the terms given the acquisition's size and relevance. ABFS remains interested in acquiring a core platform 3PL acquisition to begin to diversify its operations."

The small company may not ammount to anything, but I'm more interested / worried about what they mean by a 'core platform' 3PL.
