New to Board - thinking about joining Averitt

Hey all. I am new to trucking (1.5 yrs) and do not plan on being a "job hopper". I currently work for a large carrier and planned on getting at least 2 yrs in before changing jobs, but with freight slow, I have thought about getting a more regional job. I stumbled across Averitt and so far this is the only company I have applied with sinced I started driving. They have contacted me and offered me a position out of my hometown, Charlotte. The bad thing is, my pay will drop .05 per mile and miles may go down. I have done alot of sitting lately (currently in day 3 in EL Paso) and would really enjoy more hometime. The recruiter told me I would be back up to my current pay (.37/m) in one year. I'm just looking for some insight. I am a clean-cut guy, professional, and have no accidents. I know the paycut may cause some of you guys to think I'm crazy, but if the job has better conditions, maybe it's worth the move? thanks for the comments and I will continue to dig through some of the posts in here.
