I agree with you on the uniforms. What are we, some catholic kindergarten class (oops, maybe if certain people see this we will be wearing plaid in the near future). There is one terminal that I saw a guy with hair in corn rows that culminated in a ponytail. But by god don't get caught with a pair of white socks on.

You saw AE as I see it. A rudderless outfit that wants so badly to be something that it will never be. You made the right move by getting away from here. Just think of all the senseless propoganda that you will no longer be getting in your home mailbox!

Default Can not conform to Averitt, no wait don't want to!

Well where to begin.......I did orientation, all went well ( if you aspire to be in the slavery hall of fame) did the program hotel, doctor, driving test, so on so forth.....before I go any farther you all should know I was an owner operator before applying at AE so you may know how this will end. I went home and on the following monday had to drive 200 miles for my tractor, ok ahh let me cut to the chase, my first week was awful..... maybe 1200 miles, 2 breakdowns crappy tractor , and they can stick that qualcomm down their exhaust pipe!
Well I got home sat. night at 630pm and put my availability at tuesday at 800am, my fleet mgr. said I had my 34 hrs off monday morning and had to work monday and I said after the week I had I was tired. sleep deprived and aggrivated........He said I was with Averitt now and I had to do what they told me to (wrong thing to say to an owner operator). My response to him was maybe I need to reevaluate my relationship with Averitt! Needless to say tomarrow I will be resigning and buying me another truck.
I think Averitt was at one time a good company but not today not for me. If you go there I wish you the best of luck but if you're an o/o looking for a company job you will be sorely dissapionted.

Welcome to boards K2w !! I can only imagine how hard it would be to have to be told what to do after all these years of Owner Operating. But the good thing is that you tried us, didn't work, so you have been there done that. You never know til you try. Your not the first OO that didn't like to be told, or forced dispatched, what to do and I'm sure you won't be the last. Averitt TL seems to be a perfect fit for newbies and worn out long haulers who enjoy being home on weekends and not financially forced to run alot of miles. A good starting place and a resting place.Allow me to recommend Estes? Good pay and they seem to be getting good miles. But in this economy I don't think anyone is racking up huge miles and or hiring. Good luck on your new truck shopping and stay in touch and let us know how you're doing.

Yea Cm is right I'm one of those wornout long haulers so I have to eat the crap sandwich miles and not complain (I'll be lucky to get 1500 miles this week) I need the benefits and that is their hook and they know it so I can complain all I want about the miles and they will say "Fine leave pay for your own meds"...

Good reply tt1, all the complaining in the world won't generate an empty mile. Freight levels are still off, we should be hammered this week leading up to the holiday. I thank God I have a bid that never cancels, not big miles but I'm extremely content and blessed.
