Maybe when a driver rips the bottom of a truck apart and damages fuel tanks to spill in the hole, get EPA there along with a clean up crew and spend thousands on that they will fill the hole!

I'm asking myself why would anyone attempt to cross that pond?

I'm guessing it was dark. I'm also guessing the tired driver mistook the brown muddy water for dirt.
Given Averitt's normally high standards, the last thing he/she probably expected was a crater in the main thoroughfare of a service center.
Even if you know it's there, it is impossible to completely avoid. Swinging wide enough to miss it with your tractor will still drop at least four trailer tires in it every time.
At least four parking spaces go unused at all times because it is impossible to back in and miss the hole.

I've heard a lot about maintenance costs and trying to avoid wrecker bills over the last year. Looks like AE would do well to invest a few $$$ to fill this kiddy pool. If nothing else, a truck load of gravel is only a few hundred dollars.

Yeah, it's pretty bad. Us guys that get down there regular are familiar with it, since it's been that way for so long.
But I can see how it could catch somebody unaware.
