I have seen us allow transfers before six months, depends on how desperate we are at the time. I have a feeling our business will take off dramatically in November. Combo will be your only option for transfer, and that is what your looking for.

You can forget shuttle unless someone dies they rarely come open and TL hauls alot of shuttle freight for 5 cents less a mile...A lot of service centers hire temp drivers for local with freight as slow as it is not don't hold your breath...

Most of TL freight is customer to customer with some stops depends on the load...Kinds of freight???what ever they can put on a trailer lots of 300 mile loads Averitt is not concerned with your miles as you said and true they have hugh turnover in TL because they can not provide miles drivers are looking for. They have customers to take care and if that means 300 mile loads then sucks to be you...

I just had one of my best weeks in 4 months 2300 miles...

Welcome to AVRT and the boards, You came to AVRT looking to get into P&D or shuttle,HA! T/L has you now!. Do not feel bad, AVRT T/L is one of the best T/L outfits out here
ask any of the drivers from the others and you will see what I mean. AVRT is no bed of roses however, you will be home 34-48hrs every week, you will get 1000-3000 pd(AVRT uses HHG)miles every week,if you run a shuttle load that is paid gate to gate. T/L pulls what ever they can get into the trl, we take frt nobody else wants or are willing to go to. When you get a dispatch add 10-15% to the miles and then fig out if you can do it LEGALLY, if you can't let them know immeadiately, assume nothing. Your flt mgr has 50-70 drivers on his/her board, don't think your going to become best buddies. Your going to get a new old truck,it will probally have many maint problems and be filthy, demand a new mattress, get maint problems fixed before you leave out. Here is the pecking order: CORPERATE/COOKEVILLE/P&D/SHUTTLE/
SLPR SHUTTLE/DEDICATED/ALL OTHER TRUCKING COMPANIES/TRUCKLOAD. The best way to get along is to do your job,ask questions, assume nothing,do no favors for dispatch. I have been running T/L out of ORL for the past 5.5 yrs,the 1st year I was ready to quit every week, just hang in there, things will get better after the 1st year, got home saturday morning, left out monday noon, 2496 pd miles..good luck!

You may get a shuttle run or you may get a city run. However your classification will be COMBO. The SHUTTLE and CITY driver positions are a thing of the past because AVERITT knows it can get the job done on the cheap and will plus COMBO means flexibility. You could conceivably, in one given day, come in, run the city for a couple hours, work the dock for 2-3 hours run a shuttle run to a relay, work a couple hours at relay and run back to your domicile. Doesnt happen often but it can and does happen.

The guys prior are on the money here , your not going to make tons of money working here . Business is slow & it will be very difficult to get into shuttle or city operations. Reason being you will have to wait your turn because those drivers never leave... like the driver above ..it's a sweet deal running shuttle but those guys have 8 years and better . I don't go off of luck or getting a break . City is brutal they ask for too much to be done with a 53' & a day cab. The shuttle guy can back me on that . The good thing is Averitt has plenty of terminals the majority are good & We do have very good people here. But if your in the making money business always keep looking for better opportunities, look out for yourself & your family if you have one because Averitt will not !! ohh and I've been here 4 years
