Update-- I finished orientation today and meet the Manager at my domicile tomorrow and get my truck assignment. I'm looking forwared to it. To answer some of the comments made, first of all I thank you for your advice and insight -- No I don't expect to get rich, in this economy I wouldn't think any trucking companies are getting a lot of miles and I'd much rather get a few miles with Averitt as I had get a few miles with any other trucking company at least with Averitt I have much better benefits than most companies and that means a lot. If I can avg 1500 to 2000 miles a week that will pay my bills and I'll still have plenty of spending money. I also realize that it will take years of seniority to get shuttle positions. I should have stated more clearly that it would be a LONG term goal to move to that area of Averitt as opposed to what I said of it just being my goal to do that. I'm looking forward to maybe seeing some of you guys on the road. Take Care

Good deal, I'm glad things are going well. A local position will come alot quicker than you think, The new Combo classification has brought alot of guys like yourself off the road. Keep your ears open and monitor the hotline, put your name in anytime there is an opening that is interesting to you. They have transferred guys before soon after their hire date if there is no one else interested.

Congrats are in order, as a fellow driver I am excited for you .I remember when I first started driving trucks ohhh all of 6 years ago. LMAO.. I wish that there was a forum for drivers to discuss things such as this when I 1st started. You will enjoy T/L !! no question bout that it's when you move up that ladder you should be aware. If you ever decide to get off T/L my suggestion to you is go early if possible reason being you will take a huge pay cut coming in & you don't want to go backwards 16.50 to start city.Higher up's in Management here in NC tend to don't have a clue on what's going on with drivers. Keep track of your own due dates for your raises/reviews. If you don't no one else will & you will lose out on what your worth. Reviews or Raises whatever you want to call it is supposed to be every 90 days til you top out @ around 20bucks. Dont ever do favors & watch out for management they are not of there word. If your goal is 1500 then you'll be right @ home & your correct the benefits are better than most.

All good advice except for not doing favors, I've done favors all my career, comes in handy when I've needed something. You can never go wrong going above and beyond the call of duty, my proven opinion.
