Default Im a new guy starting the 28th in TL

Hello guys and ladies,

I am sceduled for orientation on the 28th of this month to be running regional truck load out of west tennessee. Can any of you tell me what to expect as to
1. hometime
2. What kind of freight is usually run with TL
3. Are the runs from Terminal to Terminal or from factory to factory
4. From the posts I see TL seems to not be able to keep drivers. Is it really that bad?
5. Anything else you'd like to add that you think I may like to know or need to know going in.

Thx

1. home every weekend 2. alot of multi bill time sensitive ltl freight. 3. I'll guess on this one, 70% terminal to terminal. 4. Freight is slow alot of waiting I'm told. 5. Keep you ears open on the hotline for Combo openings, harder work but home daily. Anywho, Welcome to Averitt and to TB's. I'm a Shuttle driver so I'm just repeating what I hear, we have several TL drivers who float through here on occasion that can answer alot better than I, but until they can log on I hope this helps. My best advice to anyone new or veteran, don't be disrespectful to dispatch, alot of times we don't see the big picture and we want to pitch a fit and mouth off to dispatch. Very bad idea, don't slap the hand that feeds you. I know people who call Central every time things don't go their way and or mouth off at the dispatcher at the terminal. They gripe about not enough miles than fuss when they get a long hook on Friday night. For the life of me I can't understand how anyone can thing they can intimidate dispatch into getting more miles or less delay. Once I learned that it is not about me, it is about the company's success I learned to love my job alot better. Wow, talk about getting off topic. I'll shut up now.

mj9287.This is a fact Averitt likes YES People...Except the 300 mile trip like the 600 mile trip.Be on time everytime as long the weather allows it plus you will see that they will treat you far. They have a system that you can't figure out so try not too.But you will see that things seem to work a hole lot more smoother if you move at there pace. It's been 10 years since i have been in a orientation.Just listen and try to absorb everything that you can.Good Luck to you.

Yes Im really excited about getting a chance to work here. its my goal to move in to the shuttle or local ltl pickups. im not sure what the correct terminology is for the job. But am i correct in assuming that I can bid for those positions with seniority?

yes, this is true, u can bid after 6 months. Good luck, it is a s good a company as most. be flexible, take the bad with the good, plan ur budget for short weeks, and bank above that, then when an opening happens u will be in luck to get it
