10 meter radio vs. CB radio - Page 2

Thanks Roadwaydriver59 for the info. But I had the radio tested since posting last and found that the motherboard and finals are blown out. Came to find out that when I bought the radio from where my company bought it from they knew it was bad but told me it worked. Seems the mechanic at my company blew it up when installing it. The dummy keyed the mic without the antenna on it. So I returned the radio and am looking for another base station type on ebay.

The FEDS love to triangulate and remove such systems from truckers and others.
There can be a wee bit of a fine imposed for operation of such contraptions without the requisite and therefore approved for use Licensing.

It is basically like the speed question: "How fast do you wanna go?"
So "how far away do ya wanna be heard?"

In my experience a regular CB last longer and are more durable than a 10 Meter radio.

Oliver, in many ways I agree with you . Truthfully , I don't understand why alot of guys buy export radios & they never leave channel 19. Seems like a waste of money but, hey I'm not here to bash anyone . I believe it's your money buy what you want !

You take a Cobra or Uniden with a good tune up and they can really be an AUDIO MONSTER ! I only work the CB channels myself so it wouldn't pay for me to be all over the frequencies besides that ,....if I was to get on the wrong band I probably couldn't find my way back !
