(mounted the bottom with bolts and lock -nuts)there are three holes on the side that i didnt put screws in yet, and when i move it by hand the bracket hits the hood. will it help if i put those sheet metal screws in? I wanted to get some feedback before i go drilling and screwing and making holes all over the place. what are your thoughts? maybe a new location?
My spots are limited cause I have a leer hard bedcover so I cant do anything on the rails. I want to stay away from the magnet mount antennas cause they hold moisture and dirt under the magnet. I had a wilson and there is a round rust spot on the top of my dads blazer. He isnt to happy! Any help or infor would be great. Thanks (10-4 good buddy) |
i wouldn't go drilling holes i the body, you're asking for rust to make a home there and spread. you can mount the antenna on the side of the truck cap, or at the very front of it, in between the cap and the truck cab. there is enough space there (i hope) to have an antenna mounted. or you can buy a bumper mount its usually a vinyl coated chain, wrap that around the rear bumper and run the coax on the frame rails.
by the way, a base loaded antenna would have given you the power you need and still be short. as for the magnetic mount, i don't like those either.
and one more thing, and you may not have known this but "good buddy" refers to gay..........please try not to use that term again..........??????.........
