Mounting anything on the tool box is risky. You risk hitting it with things you're putting into your bed and your reception may not be good, especially if you're pulling a trailer. I myself have a magnimount Wilson 5000. It receives great and I've got a good SWR. It stands about 5' high but you can unscrew the load and put a cap that they give you on the mount for when you're not using it. They also make a roof mount 5000 but then you've gotta drill into the cab.

Just my opinion, I'd stay away from any trucker/mirror mount antenna for your p/u.

Turtle is right, A mag mount wilson is the way to go. I had 1 on my 04 Dodge, its now on my Tundra. I had to add a small piece of coax jumper to make the run with the crew cab. Center the antenna on top and move it forward about a foot from the rear of the cab so it gets a good ground plane.

if you mount a Wilson 2000 on the box get a long shaft on the bottom so the load is above the roof line should be able to tune it almost flat with a good ground! Oh yeah the General Lee is a great radio that's what I have from Radioactive flawless performance!

That's exactly how I have mine sitting.

He's right... If the Load is below the roof line, you won't receive or get out good at all especially if you're pulling a trailer. Plus, if your load is too close to the cab, that'll interfere also.
