You may be right. 15 years ago, we used the side bands quite a bit but I don't think I have been off the 40 CB channels in a decade. These days I have many more buttons then I need.

Maybe the cellphone is easing the pressure on the CB.

I think you are right about cells helping keep folks off the CB ! No problem finding an "open channel" to talk anymore ! It used to be tough to find a quiet place to talk with "only" 40 channels . All my freighthaulin' buds had them extree channels whar we could shoot the breeze . Any night I'm travelling I can talk without interuption on channel 19 . So, a 40 channel regular radio works fine for me ! Old tough Cobra or Uniden fits the bill !

I have been using my Galaxy 99V for many years now. I have tried many others but I always return to galaxy when the others fail me. I also use a Icom for my SSB use.

The Cobra 150 & 200 were great NEW ideas from Cobra . I don't know why they discontinued making them , I know the first batches had some problems ....Heck the first T-Model FORDS had problems too ! But, when the 150 & 200 are tuned & set up by a good tech they can sound really Great! The main thing that I have seen & heard about them is to NOT overdrive them . Some guys think squeezing every little bit out of a radio is the answer . I prefer to leave a little "breathing room ".

I have had my Galaxy 66 since 1999 and it has only been in the shop once, I do miss my old Connex 3300. I had so many compliments on it's loud and clear audio.
