What else did You have done to the General Lee?

Did You upgrade the "Receive"

Did you have it set-up so that You could run a Kicker?
Yes he tuned up the receive on it as well. and I have done nothing else to the radio since he worked on it. NO I run a company truck that doesn't allow kickers
If you want to run a kicker the radio needs to be tuned to do that or it will tear up the radio and the kicker!

I guess it all boils down to what you feel comfortable doing. I felt comfortable with who I bought mine from. This is after about 2 months of visiting local "reputable" shops. I either couldn't get a straight price from any of them or they couldn't fully explain the work they were going to perform! So that is why I went with who I did! Beware of the "Golden Screwdriver" techs in a relocatable building behind a truckstop! There is a reason their shop has wheels on the bottom of it!

I wondered about that aggressor, I figured some radio shop contacted Jeff whinning about bad press and how they were going to sue, you get bad press when you do bad work I say. I got my last radio, gen. Washington, from Clays in Texas, they did what they said they would do and customer service was there, and then some. Had they done me a crappy job, I wouldn't feel bad at all about telling people about it. You can't run a business poorly, take a dump on your customers, do shoddy work, and not expect someone somewhere will complain about it, only in America can you do a terrible job and then gripe because someone complained about it. It may not have went down like that but it wouldn't surprise me if it did, some people have alot of nerve.

nobody complained, bashing people is not what we are about....

Nor are we about providing a launch pad to boost someone else s business....... wanna tell someone a place is bad? You are welcome to in PM same on who is good.

This place is expensive to run and I am loyal only to those who help me pay for it (paying advertisers)

Understand, you have to admit there is alot of truth to what I wrote, not here, in this case obviously, but I'm certian its happening somewhere.
As for being loyal, I understand that too, Dodgetalk fiercely defends their sponsers, and doesn't tolerate much complaining about them, a little but not much. You should put me on that list of loyalty, after all I am ridiculously handsome, I think thats a perfect reason..oh, and the ladies love me. Ha Ha!!!!

I have tons of experience with mods like this and all I can say is there have been some issues with these mods.
(And there are quite a few shops that do this kind of mod)
I can't go into more details due to the restrictions here on the board and I don't want to bash anyone.
From a service standpoint any time you are making a radio run hotter then you are asking for problems this holds true with anyone's mods. Heat is a big killer in electronics so any time you increase the heat you are loosing life on the equipment.
There are a lot of mods out there some are good and some are bad. Some will give you more watts on a meter but you have lost in the clarity and life of the radio.
Radio mods are special to the person doing them and it all depends on the person as to how they feel about there work and the kind of pride they take in what they do as to what you will get. I do know some good techs and I know a lot of techs that are only interested in the money. This is why I closed my shop and started building custom radios to order you can't take the time do do everything 100% when you have a line waiting for you to fix there radios. That is the trouble in a lot of Truck Stop CB Shops. I know in my case there would sometimes be 7 or 8 people waiting in line to get things worked on. I used to call it the McDonald's drive through of CB Radios.
I do think we all tend to have our own way of doing things and I am not going to say who is right, all I can say is what I have experienced on the bench and this is what I am making my option on what I have personally seen and repaired.
This is not an attack on any one shop as I have seen a lot of poor work done and I have repaired a lot of blown up radios for different reasons from a lot of different shops.
The bottom line is you have to be comfortable with the shop and person you have do the work. Chances are if you have a good feeling about the person then you will be ok. Also ask around and see who is recommended listen to the radio and ask who did the mods to a radio that sound great that should help in making your decision. One last thing to remember is you have to have a antenna system that is work right to get the performance out of the radio I don't care who does your radio if the antenna system is not right you will not be happy with the radio.

I agree. Half the guys I work with don't even know how to install the plastic washer on the antenna stud properly.
