Default swr meter?

I have a new connex radio which does not have a internal swr meter.I slip seat so everything changes day by day.Could I take an external swr meter and keep it hooked in the co-ax line or should it only be used for the testing stage only then removed??Thanks for any input.

Long time since I was serious about CB radios but if you are running 4 watts,I think you should just leave your SWR hooked up inline.

Not sure what the watts are on this radio, but Iam sure its higher than 4.Didnt even think about the wattage factor.I just dont like the fact of knowing if I could burn the radio up or not. Thanks for the input.

It does not hurt a thing to leave an SWR meter connected inline with the antenna. Now the abuse the meter will take while bouncing around in the truck might be something else.

Ok so I should be good on the keeping it hooked up as far as burning it up.The problem would be more of the bouncing damage.Which will be a real issue on the p.o.s.'s we are going to be driving. Thanks for the input.

you will be fine to leave the meter hooked up that way you can always know whats going on with swr so you dont burn up that expensive radio you got there the watts that the connex puts out wont hurt the meter for a while
