As long as they are big enough and can handle the amperage. Most of em in there can, make sure you put it on a fuse. Most times there are terminals in the fuse box that are not being used but are actually the right size you would need. They are for options or add ons. See if you can find 1 and wire it to the other side of it and install a fuse. You should be good there as long as you run the proper size wire to the fuse box from the radio. That radio only has 1 pill in it so a 25-30 amp pull should be sufficient. check the manual on the radio and make sure though.

Good advice ! Yes the 490 comes with a 25 Amp fuse . 10 gauge will carry up to 30 amps with NO problem . If it's a long run.....definitely go with the 8 gauge . What type of tractor do you drive ? You can probably hook it up somewhere near the fuse box as stated . And 'm in total agreement make sure it's fused !! This is as big of a radio that I would run ( and that depends where you hook it up ) without going all the way to the batts ! Give DTB a call in Carlisle PA , he loves the 490's and usually hooks them up with out EXTREME welding cable !

12 ga might be OK for really short run. But, 12 gauge is usually rated for 20 amps of cuurent . The stock fuse for that radio is a 25Amp.

A pill is slang for a transistor, sorry for the confusion.
