Default What is this radio

I just picked up a free Ranger RCI-2950. I was told the scan button is stuck so it never settles on one channel. I'm used to my Cobra 29 ltd. What is this radio and is it worth getting it fixed ?.
thanks

You have 10 meter radio that is easily converted to 11 meters(cb). lots of guys like them because it gives them the ability to go outside the standard 40 channels. (illeagal). Google it.

Illegal or not the RCI you have is one of the best radios to operate on SSB and is good on AM. It all depends what your operating mode preferences are. That chassis is a common one used by Ranger and most techs know the radio inside well. If you were looking for a radio to make a lot of noise with, many other radios would be a better choice. The display with its large six-digit frequency readout may have little problems if you operate that radio in extreme cold weather.

I'm not knocking the ranger. I own a 6900 fhp myself and it kicks butt on ssb and am. I was just stating the facts so he could make an informed decision.

I doubt that the scan button is stuck, more than likely the possessor is bad. If it is it will depend on the one the radio has in it as to how easy of a fix it will be.
