Angry Connex 4600 turbo

I have a new Kenworth with duel antennas. I put my 4600 connex in and it run fine. I put a set of Francis antennas and when I key up the mike it interferes with my on board drivers computer that controls the log books. If i disconnect the left side antenna and run just the left one it dont interfere at all. I stumped any ideas????????????????

I used a francis antenna with a connex and had a lot less modulation than with my old stainless whip, so I went back. I know most of the time when a radio interferes with computers and electrical parts it's because of stray RF. Ground that radio, and everything else real good and try it again. If that doesn't work try some snap on ferrite cores from radio shack. they go round the power wires for devices that receive interference from radios. rerouting your coax may also do the trick. Just remember that 4600 has a built in kicker. It's gonna do some odd things to your electrical if it's not installed right..

Duel antennas are a PIA. Tuning is difficult and for them to work as intended, they need to be 1/4 (108.6") wave length apart. That generally puts them way out on your mirrors and in newer trucks, its becoming harder to find mountable real estate out there. Any distances other then a 1/4 wave length antennae spread and you are defeating the purpose and degrading the signal.

The purpose of duel antennae installation is to increase your power forward and to the rear. but you pay for this by decreasing side projecting power. Your Xmitter becomes very directional. And more unreliable.

With one antennae, if you encounter a problem, at least you know where the problem is not.
