Thanks for trying :-) but my radio has 10 guage power wire. Those plugs only accept up to 12 guage wire and the ad says "Ships free on most orders over $98" The ones I bought at Radio Shack only cost about 7 bucks

That may be because they are normally used with the insulation still on the wire. You are stripping the wire. I think they are almost all the same.

Thanks jujuman for your post about grounding the antenna behind the cab. That got me thinking...I mounted it to the top of the cab using the same bolts that hold the faring down and got a great ground directly to the roof.

Thanks Estnhillbilly for your post about the banana plugs they work great.
No problem, and glad to help.. I was told the same thing when I hooked mine up that way. Wouldn't last or work... mine did fine till the day I sold the radio, and the guy I sold it to still uses it to this day. Those banana plugs from radio shack are nice, got a set of em on my radio box also.. love em.

Sounds GOOD HOOYA ! Man, I'd like to see a pic of how you mounted the antenna . GREAT SWR ! What style of antenna mount did you use ? Sounds like you did a little fabricating .

That must be what I did wrong ....I stripped the wire & soldered them . Wire broke loose 50 miles into my first trip ! What do you do with those just twist the connector up under the insulation?

Oh & thanks for the link. That banana plug has a screw down clamp connection . I will have to try those . The radio shack ones are the ones I tried to solder on with NO LUCK ! Some of that stuff comes with NO instructions so . I figured they would solder ..... WRONG for me !!

Gold-Plated Dual Banana Plug - RadioShack.com

Those are the ones I use, heavy duty and they will hold 10 or 12 ga wire. The back end of em screw down on the wire after u put it through the hole in the middle of the plug.
