You will most likely burn up your amp...not the radio

I run an "authentic" Palomar class AB-1 amp 225 Watts . BEWARE of IMPOSTERS ! It is a very well built , CLEAN amp w/ hardly any stray RFI . I highly recommend them AND it can be driven with 4 watts dead key straight out of the box radio . NO MODS to the CB . Sounds great and does not interfere with the vehicle computer. TRUE "LINEAR" characteristics . Look at it on a SCOPE !

Thanks for the info. Not sure if my Palomar is "authentic" or not. Google "Palomar Blue Thunder 200" and you should be able to pull up a photo on CBTricks or some such site that looks exactly like mine, complete with photos of how it looks once opened up. Very simple in there. Only thing I need to do to mine is re-secure the "line in" (from the radio) port because the nut on the backside of that input was lost God knows where and it's just sitting in there loose right now. The connection's still solid, but I'd rather not have it jiggling around on me once I bolt it up.

I'll also be running my CB power wires directly to the battery for "clean" power-- it's currently plugged into my 12V power port and I get all kinds of noise from the A/C fan, windshield wipers, etc. Only worry is my wires aren't long enough to reach through the firewall to my battery, so I might have to get a roll of wire from the Radio Shack or wherever I can find some of the same gauge.
