OK, but what kind of radio do you have attached to the wilson 1000?

Have a MAGnet Wilson 5000 on my p/U no scratches so far . Been on there for five years . I do move it monthly to prevent paint fade . The Wilson works great for me . You have to be careful taking it off . Just follow the directions & DON'T try to slide it across the roof & YOU"LL be fine !

I have a Cobra 19 Ultra III with a 102" whip antenna that is grounded. I want to keep it legal as it is not wise to mess with the pigs. I have a magnet mount that I can attach the 102" but I can't drive down the road with it because it will fall over.

It sounds like you need a Firm steel plate or a ball mount for that 102" whip . Something bolted down . A single MAGMOUNT will not hold that antenna . Try googling this trimag mount ! It will hold that 102" !!

A Wilson 1000 should work great. You will get a great SWR and it will probably handle the power you put to it. If you pry it sideways instead of dragging it you will not scratch the paint.
