Default I'm new to the CB Radio

I have a couple of CBs that I picked up for not too much. I put one in my car, its the Cobra 19 Ultra III. I haven't messed with it much and I have the recommended antenna from Cobra(I think its the HG A1500 model its about 3ft. tall). I have a SWR from radio shack too. If anyone would be so kind as to walk me through the basic technical concepts that I am overlooking, I'd be most appreciative.

Thank You

P.S. If you know of any good CB shops around Charlotte NC, please let me know.

What are you trying to figure out exactly? Can you hear people talking? Can they hear you? If so you are doing something right?

Well I get a 1.5 SWR Reading with a 102" whip antenna otherwise I get 3+ SWR with the cobra antenna(I don't want to fry my CB). All I have to figure out now is how to attach the 102" whip antenna to my car in a nondestructive manner. the whip is 8.5 feet tall so it will be removed temporarily when the car is put in the garage.

what kind of car? Is there anything metal underneath the rear bumper you can attach a metal plate to? I would just get a trunk lip mount and a francis antenna and call it a day. http://www.wearecb.com/store/cobra-a...it-p-1090.html If you are concerned about your car don't get a mag mount. It will scratch it. NMO mount isn't a bad idea either. You have to drill a hole, but its a lot better. http://cgi.ebay.com/Larsen-27-31-MHz...428132012r7903

It's a 2002 Corolla. Now that I've looked, I have a few mounting options under the bumper. I'll run it past the folks at Toyota and see if they have any ideas; otherwise, I'll have to rig something up.

I run a wilson 1000 magnetic mount on my pickup and it hasn't scratched my roof at all. 1.1 swr and able to talk skip with it. Handles some power too. Check out the lil wil in there line if your not running power.
