Default Grounding question

I drive an 02 sterling which drives me nuts when it comes to getting a good ground.I finally got my swr down after trying different things.I was thinking i may need to run a ground wire from the case of the radio itself to something.I am not running a heater but my radio is doing about 34 watts.Any ideas?

I used the finger-tightened radio mounting-to-the-bracket 'bolts' to ground the radio's chassis. Those bolts tighten into the chassis holes. I used a star, locking washer between the radio's case and the ground strap. I attached the other end of the strap to a bolt in the front of the passenger's seat that bolts the seat to the truck's body.

Where is your antenna mounted? If it's on the mirror thats probably your problem. The doors on those sterlings arent grounded good if any at all. Run a wire from your antenna mount to a bolt in the door jam that bolts to the body.

when i drove a sterling had the same problem,i ended up using a tiger tail. you isolate the antenna from ground plastic washer on top and bottom then get 2 thin nuts to run up on the bottom of ant before the coax put a 8 gauge wire about 5 ft long this creates a false ground .you can trim the wire to set swr. wilson sold a kit to do this for a while.it worked great for me
