2000 is all you will need, 5k is mostly for them super truckers with big boxes, I use a 5k but bought it used for 20 bucks, it's ok, I don't talk much though
if the truck has a fairing on it, personally I don't think it makes a difference because there is always going to be a null.

Got my monkey-made for 80.00 in ohio last year. don't know if u get that way but i got it at cb shop on I-70 exit 126 next door to the pilot, and they also came out and set the swr for no additional charge.

u could run a coat-hangar or you could buy at $75 antenna question is wich can u deal with getting stolen? id just go with a francis, 5 foot or so, it doesnt need to be that tall just get your swr right. Many daycabs can run a 4 footer just find cuz of their height not having a condo sleeper behind the cab and all...

A wilson 2000 will work just fine. I am a ham radio operator and I use one on the ten meter band which is a little higher than channel 40. If you have isolated mirror mounts and cant get a ground, there is a page on Wilson's website that tells how to correct that. DO NOT just run a ground wire from the antenna mount straight to the frame! That will cause an unbalanced condition and make the ground wire radiate instead of the antenna. Many of these new trucks have isolated bodies, and it wreaks havoc on all cb antennas.
