I've never had or used a Wilson but I've read the same type of question on many sites like this. The Wilson easily tops all other antenna's suggested for just about all vehicle use.
Reasonable price for a well respected antenna. A 2000 would work fine unless you're going to run a biiiig kicker.
I've used the Firestiks on most of my campers and motor home because I mount them on top. I have no complaints. I have a 15 year old Firestik on my fairly new motor home but I need to go to a no ground plane Firestik I just bought to get my swr down because it's all fiberglass and they are short.
For the Firestik detractors out there they have always worked very good for me and when I'm traveling truckers always respond to me as driver because I sound so good.
Good luck
My own 2 cents.

I tried one of these, worked great for about a year. Being that they are made from steel and aluminum that's about how long it took for the corrosion to really get going. Took the entire monkey made antenna apart and cleaned. This helped but after only a couple of months the corrosion was back and the performance was gone. Not to mention they are huge, heavy and known to break mounts.

Now I use a Wilson 2000 with the Wilson stainless steel 3 piece stud and the Wilson Tin coated coax. A Bit pricey I know but easy to tune and long lasting.
The set up is about 4 years old and been on 3 different trucks. Broke one rod replaced it with one from a K-40 which are thicker and stronger. You will need to shorten (CUT) to get SWR set. Also a good idea to replace the factory set screws with longer ones from the hardware store (Original set screws will loosen over time).
To the original question a well tuned top loaded whip will out perform a coil loaded 2000 hands down. The secret is well tuned. No CB antenna, no matter how good it is will perform with out a proper tuning(SWR).
The biggest mistake most people make is not to tune the coax/antenna.

You can mount it on a spring lessening the chance of breaking.
I don't know about now but the Francis used to be pretty hard to break.
