Default I'm confused antenna's ?????

Everywhere Ive read say's top-loaded antenna's are better than center-loaded which are better than base-loaded well why doe's everyone recomend a wilson 2000 trucker antenna which is center-loaded for my peterbilt work truck?I'm looking for the best performance out of my general lee and acording to everything ive read that would mean a top-load antenna.I dont plan on running any power I just want an honest opinon on why a center-loaded antenna would work better in this situation. The roof and hood are fiberglass.Does the coil still need to be above the roof?Is that where the antenna transmits and recieves off of?Sorry for the questions just seems confusing and all.

Higher the coil the better the performance, the higher the coil the more easily damaged as well though

I like a stainless steel antenna, the best cheap antenna is the 5.5 foot Francis (Fiberglass) but one pop of a tree and you get to buy another.

you are going to run it on the mirror mount right?
2000 is all you will need, 5k is mostly for them super truckers with big boxes, I use a 5k but bought it used for 20 bucks, it's ok, I don't talk much though
