If the SWR just got bad all of a sudden... The coax where it attached may be pulled loose inside. If the roof is the removable fiberglass it won't ground to it. If it removable metal, you might not be getting a good ground at the securement points. Try moving it over the driver area unless its a full convertible roof.

I will check the coax then, the roof is all metal it's a Chevrolet Blazer, I'll check it out on my to class in the afternoon. Hopefully it's an easy fix.

Thanks VWAGGS

The antenna that you have is easy to tune . It is a Dial A Match antenna made by either Valor, Astatic , or Solarcon. The Cobra 29 that you have is a good radio and it has a built in SWR meter. There are some sites with great directions to set the SWR . Look those over and adjust your antenna accordingly . To determine which way to turn the tuning rings on the antenna you will need to get your SWR reading from channel 1, 20 , and 40 . This will determine which way the rings go , Up OR Down to set the SWR. You can check the Firestick antenna website it has GREAT information FREE to look at .
