Question CB ANT warning light

Hey guys I was out having a cigar trying to chit chat with anyone that came by on i95 tonight when I noticed the ANT light came on when I transmitted on my Cobra 29 LTD.

I was wondering how do I go about fixing this problem as I know if I keep using the CB with that light coming on I may destroy my CB and I don't want to do that.

Hopefully you guys can help I appreciate it ahead of time.

-Joe

Your SWR is off. If its never done it before, you probably have a bad connection, loose antenna, poorly grounded antenna or pinched coax. Continued use will blow your finals so find and fix the problem.

if it's been awhile since you installed the unit,it may be time for you to take everything apart(coax,ant.,et.,) and clean up all connections and mounting area's. also may time for new coax and/or antenna, those things don't last forever especially if you spend any amount of winter time on salt covered roads.

It's fairly new only about 2 months old. It's never done it before and I did re-cal the SWR the way the manual says. I will try checking where the coax cable is coming into the truck (This is in my POV btw) and double check the connection. Now if it is a ground issue how do I go about that?

The antenna mount has a metal ground somewhere on it. Its usually the entire mount. It must be attached to the vehicle in such a manner that it grounds to the frame of the vehicle. If your POV is composite rather than metal where the antenna attaches that is probably the issue. Through paint is not an issue if its a magnet mount antenna.

It's a magnetic antenna on an old 95 Chevy Blazer.

I forgot the maker of the antenna but it has 2 rings on it to tune it. I will check the antenna to see if there is a grounding wire or something there.
