Question Mntg antenna to aluminum mirror?

Ignorant here to CB science, but thinking that the antenna needs to be grounded... right?

Pulled my old radio out of the closet, Cobra... LTD maybe? (sorry, my truck isn't here, so I can't go look at it) Stopped at the local TruckPro, bought a $27 black coated antenna (sorry, didn't keep the package... I'm not much help, am I?),

Best mounting place on my new-to-me Internatianal 4700 med size truck is the mirror. The mirror mounts look aluminum to me.

Do I need to run a ground wire to the base of the antenna?

Anything else simple/inexpensive I can do to improve performance?

Thanks!!
