I worked out of St Louis Mo for five years as a p&d driver and a little line haul. Now, i never had alot of jobs in my 50 plus years of age. But Central Freight Lines was the most screwed up place i ever worked at. Never paid their bills on time. Never hardly repaired anything. Sure lost abunch of good people when they closed up St louis.

I met Zip as well when I trained in Dallas. When in Texas when you can meet the old-times, like Harold (the retired trainer) you can pick up on the pride that has been referred to in this thread. But in places like St. Louis and Chicago you wouldn't know it even existed. It's just seems like another crappy trucking company. I was proud to have put my time in there. I'm happy where I'm at now, but I never would have left if they hadn't of closed the doors at my terminal. I still wear the hats today. Just not at work.

I am proud to say I gave 15 plus years to Central. I was lucky and young enough to move on and find something else. It is a shame the way the Dallas mgt is treating the senior drivers and letting them go for low ball stuff. If it wasnt for majority of the senior drivers these managers would not be working there. The Shultz brothers(old Central) out of Dallas used to be instructors...I learned more on how to drive and treat customers in one afternoon than this new wanna be swift training crew can teach in a year!
