P&D drivers load/unload their own trailers everyday. So, you punch in between 6-7 AM, unload IB linehaul and load your own trailer. Run your route and then unload/load linehaul for night run. Most likely dock doesn't have forklift for each driver, so you wait/pallet jack in between. They use a handheld device that clocks in/out driver, it OFTEN miscalculates your hours and you have to argue with TM for all your pay.

If they are recruiting you from a different company they will promise you the world and tell how much they have improved in past 2 years, the only promise they will keep is your salary. Insurance has few choices and high copays compared to other companies plans.

OPINION:

Most hostile working conditions I have ever seen. High turnover rate of TMs, dispatchers, sales, drivers, etc. I have worked for three transportation companies and they were by far the worst.

Who are you working for now?

If you are currently employed I would think hard about making the switch. If you are unemployed, then what do you have to lose?

Hey pro1driver. If you are paying for long distance, you ARE stupid. Try a cell phone, Long distance is free.

Central Transport relies heavily on getting drivers to do things and not get paid for the tasks...No pay for any kind of delays whatsoever...no pay for roadservice....you handle the problem with their junk unmaintained equipment...your time, your cell phone...all for Centrals selfishness...no pay for fueling....no pay for yard time spotting your trailer in a cluster fock of others scammering around to spot theirs...no pay for getting your forktruck ready to go and weighed in for your dock work. you dont get paid until you scan your first piece of freight and then you go under the scrutiny of the "Handling Units" per hour equaition....they want you to jump thru hoops for the measley 19 bucks an hour for starting dock time....its like a dollar a piece of freight no matter what you have to go thru to get it off of one trailer into another. a pitiful system for determining production...they screw people so bad their philosophy is everybody is out to screw them...they squeeze-squeeze-squeeze to get every little bit of free work off of their drivers....it really is amazing how they can retain any drivers at all...I talked to a guy who seemed like the know all tell all central driver/dock-new hire trainer and asked him how long he had been there...he said 10 months...this folks is not a good sign...IF you desparately need a job this would be an option for work...If you are thinking that your company sucks and Central is better....Beware of that kind of thinking...theyre not a good company....plan on long hours every week and at least 7 hours per week that will be for free.

As things get worse in the trucking industry all companies will be squeezing drivers...at least central gives a fair compensation for all the bullcrap you have to go thru to work there.
