Default How Green Is Your Facility?

Just a thought. With Con-Way signing up for the Green iniative, and blowing Green smoke, how Green is your facility?
I will start this thread off.....
At the facility where I work, the following procedures are normal:
In the summer, the a/c runs full time, while the office people have portable heaters under their desks.
In the winter time, the furnace runs full time, while the office people have fans running all of the time.
The bent up scrap metal goes in the dumpster, rather than being recycled.
The dumpster is generally full to the top with broken pallets, and not broken down crates from customer pickups.
The city operation runs so Helter Skelter, a 5 year old could plan for better fuel consumption.
The maintence person goes to the lumber store and buys 2x4's to cut up for blocking, never mind that the dumpster is full of pallets and crates .
Am I alone here?
Don't get me wrong, I am not a far out enviormentalist, but we could do a lot better!
If anyone has any thoughts or storys, I would love to hear them.

Oh god, would you have fun in California...If we got any greener, we'd be algae....we got a dumpster for everything...we'd recycle air if we had to...got to have classes in this place just to learn how to throw away trash...

At times URE I would fill a 14yrd dumpster with 10-15k lbs of excess dunnage.

I hear you on the city routing. My favorite was when I was backing into a dock for a customer, looking at another Con-Way truck across the street sitting in a dock while a 3rd driver drove past us on the way to yet another customer on the same Court. The kicker is that all of these places typically give 2-4 skids and this was ~ 1/2 mile from the Terminal !

No offense, but I have seen 10 legged deer and three legged humans walking around in your neck of the woods. I don't put Northwest In and green in the same sentence.
