Well, I have heard colleagues saying that the biggest problem with us and FedEx is that we are spending too much time trying to be each other...now that's funny...I don't believe John L has any interest in trying to be FedEx..In fact, I am positive..

I wouldn't mind if we copied their KW's and Volvo's.

We have a few Volvo sleepers for the ESL's. Not sure if you use ESL runs out west. If not, one guy drives out to FAC, one drives back because it is too long for one driver. We have an account we need them for so we can load 45k in a van. Once in a while I'll run one down there and they ride like a car. An O/O I know bought the new KW T660 and he says it is the best truck he has ever driven. He traded a long 2006 Pete to get it. Checked it out today. Heated leather, sunroof, GPS, and a 550 Cummins under the hood. He only has 12,000 miles and he is averaging 6.0mpg running the east coast. The last time I was in a Volvo governed at 62 it only averaged 5.5 with 200,000 miles. Maybe we should put some power under the hood and crank'em back up..

Then why did we rename our company to include the word Freight in it? Fed Ex didnt follow us...UPS didnt follow us...they were freight before we were...

Many years ago during one of our monday meetings, i remember our SCM (a shining example of loving the company to death) beaming when he read us that conway is starting a new insurance sur charge...like the fuel surcharge...anyways, he was so eager and motivated saying "we will be the first out of the gate with that one"...if i recall, i never heard anything more with their first out the gate thing and the insurance surcharge...guess it didnt go over to well...

Curiousity question...who was involved in racing first? I dont think it was conway, but i do not know for sure.
