conwayisgarbage is on a distinguished road
Default Do yourself a favor

I've heard about this site for a couple weeks now. This will be my first and only post. I am going to offer my opinion and walk away, just like I did after almost 15 years with Conway.

This company at one point was well respected and admired in the trucking industry. Those days are long gone. I've seen conway going downhill for a long time. They have taken away more and more and will not stop. While I started out young and still have many years until retirement, most of your senior drivers are older. They have the fear factor instilled in them and will just shut their mouths and have to work an extra 10-15 years average to retire, since out pension was taken (frozen, call it what you want).

Myself I saw the writting on the wall and knew I wanted to be treated with some sort of respect for putting in hard work day after day, year after year. In fact in all my years I've only missed 5 days. That doesn't mean anything to the white shirts, runs downhill and without any protection, you are nothing. In my opinion, that's why the are on a roll of hiring apprentice drivers. The problem is they don't stick around more than 1 year and are 90% of the time gone, right around that timeframe.

I went to UPS freight and know we have a union. It's the greatest decision I ever made. Sure you'll get a very small % of dsr's who think everything is great at conway, they are brainwashed in my opinion. You don't understand respect until you have some protection. I was never prounion because I truely thought the grass wasn't greener, it's very much greener!

Things are going to keep disappearing and that's a fact every driver there has to see happening, every year. I strongly encourage the veterans & younger driver to truely take a chance and put yourself out there to other ltl companies. Trust me UPS with never go away and only grow stronger. While YRC seems to be struggling, they will never disappear, in fact when the country goes through our Presidential election this year, unions are going to see a major stregthening and will once again be stronger than ever. Americans haven't made money because of inflation since the late 90's. That's all going to change. The problem is Conway is going to continue to take, take, take and want more, more, more. If you can't see the writing on that wall, you've not been at conway for more than 5 years. Anyone that has knows in their hearts what I am talking about. Do yourself, your family and your mental state a blessing and consider these words. I am not one for confrontation so take this as you will. I've known probably 50-100 drivers over the years that left and went to other ltl companies, some union, some not. 99% of them have been healthier & happier immediately after leaving and it only get's better.

Haven't I read this same thread several times before? "I was unhappy and left, so all of you must be too." I guess misery loves company. Sorry, won't get it from me.

Been at Conway for several years and have never had a problem. Make plenty of money and they would have to drag me out of this place. I aint quiting. You have to be a good hard worker to work at Conway....Some people, like the original poster, just couldn't hang. The original poster says that you need protection....protection from what? They pay you to do a job and you do it. What's the problem?

Man I'm just glad that guy came along and straighten my whole life out for me. I read his post earlier and was so inspired that I immediately printed my two week notice. Then applied for jobs on line at six other LTL companies. Next I ran down to the corner store and got a dozen 2 liter Mountain Dews and a case of Nacho Doritos just to get me through the November election. Man I can't wait for everything that's wrong in my world to be corrected seven weeks from now. Man this is the life... sitting on my butt and letting everyone else protect my ! Boy I wish he didn't have to leave, I'd really like to know what political rally he just came from.
