I read somewhere that the government is requiring companies to have radios in tractors.

If you're so unhappy, why do you work here? Or more importantly, what have you done to make a change? I can tell you that the grass is not greener on the other side. I am not happy about the way things are going, but I have a job and lost less than many other people at different companies. What big company out there doesn't lie to its employees?

Ya know what's funny, I bid short this year and almost never got anything under a million miles despite the fact I was one of two drivers out of like 40 running less than 520 miles per night. I would be hooking with a 98 while someone without a uniform got in his 08 running 200 more miles. I can't hold that run all the time anymore and those dinosaurs are a killer on the long runs. Had an 07 last night on a long one and that does make a difference. Runs better, rides better, steers better, looks better, and no fumes.

I can handle a 2000 or better but I really feel the senior drivers running those old spring rides. I'll give our terminal some credit, they spread the junk around so everyone got a turn - wasn't the same driver stuck in it every night. I really feel for you guy's that are stuck in one every night on a long run. That would honestly have ruined my entire year.

It's going to be a bumy road for a while. They are begining to realize the mistake for putting all the retired trucks back in service, but it's going to take a few years to buy enough trucks to correct that mistake. Even if you guys didn't mind the old units, which I know most DSR's hate them, they are tired and rotting out. The cost of repairs are rediculous and the whole fleet is aging. Nothing good comes from keeping trucks that long. I hope they stay on the path and buy just as many if not more units in 2011 and 2012 and get the whole fleet younger. Runor has it that they have a 5 year contract with the Cascadia's, so hopefully things will slowly get better, as far as equipment anyway.

I'm surprised no one has brought up that we are not purchasing new tractors but we are leasing them! I read it in the transcripts of the conference call this past week. Maybe that explains why they are coming with stereos/cd players/xm, cruise control that works, and all of the other bells and whistles. Will our shop still be responsible for servicing them or will they go to a vendor?
