Default disapointed

Been with Dayton Freight for 15 years. It has always been a great place to work, very family first company. But the recent hard times has really changed that. We only hire casual's, in some cases we have more casual's than full time. We only work them 30 hours a week. We can't even afford to keep the lights on at the Indy terminal, during the night. But we have new safety rules like chalks must be straight, wheels slid to the back, if you get hurt, it's a write up, for not working safely. Has it really gotten this bad, for once such a great company? Heard there are 86 new rules coming out, not sure if they are Indy or company rules. I believe we should change the name to "Indy Freight".

Its not just indy, msp management has been on the warpath with its BS right ups, threats about termination and my way or the highway even if your right, BS. The new safety rules are in place to help with company costs and so management can justify termination. All we hear is get going, hurry up and whats taking so long...but they post a message stating (REDUCE HURRY) and (BE SAFE).

Believe me brother your not the only terminal. Its getting real bad here and its not going to get any better anytime soon...your just a number and remember your getting higher pay then part timers and medical. It will be all part timers soon enough and this place will start to lose quality workers and soon after its customers.

It seems like what we all stood for in the past is gone, if we do not take care of your customers, some one else will, if numbers are more important than are customers we are in DEEP trouble.

your looking at it all wrong, still a great place too work for tough times call for tough measures.you sound like you don't deal with change well, you obviously never work at a -hole company before well I have and there no longer with us.the cronins are just being proactive trying to save money, can you blame them if it was your money you would too.we've been sliding are tandems back for years it saves wear and tear on the dock plates and the towmotors not dropping down so much.open your eyes we're making more then the union boy's and I hear they may have another give back!.if you don't like it here quit!try finding a better job...you won't dayton is a top notch company and it is moving forward with or without you! there's things at time's we're all not gonna like me included but look at the whole picture and what's the cause

What we stood for in the past is still what we stand for today. The chocks and slid tandems have been around for a long time, and for good reason. I have seen trailers slide away from the dock when a hi lo moved on because the tandems were not slid to the rear and the pins were not locked. When times/money get tough you have to control the things you can control in order to survive. IU3 you have been around for a long time. You know about the ups and downs in this business. Don't miss read what is going on here as a negative but as an effort to protect the future. Steve
