PM's replace large, expensive, time consuming repairs with regular, scheduled, managed service intervals.
That is why the "man who handles the headaches get paid very well."
Question: How many posters follow the maintenance schedule on their personal vehicles?
PFG pulls my truck into Little Rock every 4 months whether I like it or not, to do a PM, I have no choice when it goes, and they keep very good track of time, they know when its due, the boss calls me and says "your trucks going down for service, take all the stuff out you need, in case you get a sub because your truck has to stay there"..I always appreciate the notice!!!

BTW, my Dodge gets Pm'd every week, plus regular oil change every 3000 miles!

I got mine to 18,000 over for a service on time, would have kept drivin it but had a little problem with the water pump leaking coolant and got it into to Nashville and them boys said took care of me.
The shop that does my service is West Middlesex, I try to keep it away from there.
Seems like evertime they work on it something will go wrong with it.
Like to turn mine in down south, they seem to do a good job.

Some swear by "SLICK50".
I once sent a forklift engine to the Continental shop in Memphis, TN.
They had it disassembled and the block in the vat over the weekend.

Called me on Monday and wanted to know what in the h*ll was in the
crankcase. Looked like varnish and was slick like Teflon.

I called the owner and asked him. He said: "Well last year when it started knocking we added a can of SLICK50 to quiet it down."

Was not knocking when we got it in, just smoking like a tar kettle.
