Finally got my new Kenworth T66o last Wednesday and already went in shop on Monday. Only had 1300 miles on it. Anyone else had problems with there's? Hopefully will work all the bugs out of it right at first!! It seems to be a nice truck. Alot better than the old ones that for sure.

An interesting bit of FedEx history:
In 1971, Frederick W. Smith raised $91 million in venture capital. After adding $4 million of inherited money to his funding, Smith purchased a used aircraft company in Little Rock, Arkansas. He began using the aircraft to provide overnight delivery services for envelopes and small packages being shipped within the United States. Smith eventually named his business-Federal Express. Operations at Memphis International Airport in Tennessee were established in 1973. By then, Federal Express owned a fleet of 14 Dassault Falcon airplanes and employed nearly 400 workers. Services included both overnight and two-day package and envelope delivery services, as well as Courier Pak. The firm began marketing itself as "a freight service company with 550-mile-per-hour delivery trucks." When Smith found himself struggling to pay expenses, including payroll, he approached venture capitalist General Dynamics for a loan. After his funding request was rejected, Smith flew to Las Vegas, Nevada, where he won $27,000 at the black jack tables.

I've been waiting patiently by my mail box for my new decoder ring and my birthday card from CLC. I've always received my birthday card signed by all those happy controllers. I guess since they have moved the operation to Arkansas, were not up close and personal anymore. On the bright side, this latest birthday does qualify me to become a part time government worker. I think I'm going to like working for Uncle Sam, and the hours are great. TP

Vision Industries to reconfigure truck as electric/hydrogen hybrid

FedEx Freight, the less-than-truckload division of FedEx, agreed to a partnership with Vision Industries to test a tractor powered by the hydrogen/electric hybrid Tyrano drive train.
Under the agreement, Vision Industries will configure a FedEx Freight tractor with its zero emission plug-in electric/hydrogen fuel cell hybrid Tyrano drive train. The reconfigured vehicle will then be tested for one year to evaluate the operational suitability of the technology.
�It is our goal to be involved in projects such as this to further the advancement of alternative fuels that both reduce our dependence on foreign oil and are good for the environment,� said Douglas G. Duncan, president and CEO, FedEx Freight. �We are excited about technological advancements we see today in transportation and look forward to what the future holds in this arena.�

Just curious where all these guys with the 90/90 bsshit were before FX finally started matching the deep discounts most others have been giving??

Do you think they really believe FX has such a program or are they bummed that we finally joined the party and started competing on price?

Guess we should have been creative and came up with something when we were cutting drivers and dock guys, man are we behind the times or what?
