I'm not sure that I have any respect for anybody over at 406 they like to talk big but that's about it. How is it that they, meaning everybody from the top down to the reps, let Holland or YRC lay off higher senority guys and let the lower ones stay employed? Why weren't they dove tailed by senority? Could it be that the union guys sitting in the Teamsters office in Grand Rapids protected their local terminal guys while sacrificing Holland's higher senority guys? Why is that fair? Something smells fishy here. The Temasters in 406 didn't show me a thing. All they care about is their own butt. I would say that they brother backstabbed us at Holland.

If I sound angry I am. They closed Holland and consolidated them with Grand Rapids. A chosen few got to go to GR to work while the rest of us lost our jobs. Now we have lower senority guys working while the higher ones aren't. How would you feel?

If you would feel any different than I do, please by all means I would like to hear your thoughts.

This company (YRCW) has played the shell game with our money for several years. According to our financials, the shell game has kept our doors open,...

This company (YRCW) has played the shell game with our money for several years. According to our financials, the shell game has kept our doors open, but we are still struggling to survive. We have saved money by not investing into new equipment. We have saved money by not investing into maintaining our facilities. And we have taken pay cuts and pension cuts trying to save money. All seemingly, just to survive another day. Yet, still we struggle.

I have a suggestion for Corporate.......How about starting to invest into your PEOPLE? Your people are the most important assets that you have. Yet, you continue to treat them like second class citizens. You have failed at upgrading the quality of equipment that we operate. We enter our facilities embarrassed by the looks of the exterior, that is visible to the public. You have cut our pay and pension, you call people back off lay off, only to put them back on lay off within a few days. So this tells me that you are ok with us being treated like second class citizens. Your operations Mgt. people are so disgruntled by the cuts that they have taken, that they could care less about the future of the company. They seem to be there only for a paycheck.

We have all taken massive financial cuts to help this company survive. But it's time we start getting treated with respect for our sacrifices. These 1970's attitudes in your management regime are outdated. The old dinosaurs mentality of "the beatings will continue until morale improves" philosophy just isn't working. The dinosaurs went extinct because they couldn't adapt to the changes that they were facing. You have some dinosaurs, at all levels, that need to become extinct in the trucking industry. Their philosophy is outdated.

My point is that this company has a lot of drivers/dock workers that I would classify as the "cream of the crop". Yet, they are kicked around like they are just a worthless number. If you want this company to survive, you need to get some people leading this company that have some people skills. If they don't know how to treat people with respect, throw their butts out on the street. In my opinion, you will not pull this company out of the gutter by yourselves.....You need our help. But, how many of us are willing to help, when we get crapped on at every opportunity that our direct supervision gets?

I understand that the Management have also taken several cuts. I'm not overlooking that. But, they were hired to be leaders of this company, that's the responsibility that they accepted, cuts or no cuts. So if they don't want to do what they were hired to do, and just want to pout and trip over their lip every day....send them packing. Get some true leaders to help right this ship.

I've been around long enough to remember how the attitudes were "back then". And I know that things have changed regarding pay, benefits, etc. etc. So I understand that it is much tougher in these times to keep everyone happy. But, people can only take so much crap before they throw in the towel. By being treated poorly, I can guarantee, that you are not getting the best out of people that I consider "the cream of the crop".

In my opinion, the best investment that this company could make would be in their PEOPLE. Invest in leaders that have a background and resume that proves that they work well with people. You can keep moving the money around until we finally fold, if that's the route you chose. But, my suggestion is that you start taking care of your most important asset.....YOUR PEOPLE.

YOU CANNOT RIGHT THIS SHIP WITH EVERYONE PULLING IN OPPOSITE DIRECTIONS!

They are still laying off city and road every week. Road board down to 25 from 100, City down to around 130 from 200, and office cut in half. I do not get 191 people out of that. TM just left to go to CH to be TM.

Article 5 section 6;
On a weekly basis, the Employer shall be permitted to work the active seniority board 25% of the straight time hours in overtime. In the event the Employer exceeds the 25% overtime allowance, the number of overtime hours in excess of the allowance will be applied in the next following week for determining the number of employees to
recall from lay-off.

For example, if the Employer has 120 employees on the seniority board with 100 actively working and 20 laid-off, the Employer shall be permitted 4000 hours straight time hours plus 1000 hours overtime (25% of 4000) for a total of 5000 hours to be worked that week by the active seniority board. If during that week, the Employer actually worked the 100 active employees a total of 5600 hours, there would be 600 hours in excess of the 25% overtime allowance. The 600 hours would be divided by 50 (40 straight time hours plus 25% of 40 or 10) which equals 12 employees to be recalled from lay-off in the week following the violation of the 25% overtime allowance.

maybe someone here has some knowledge of this...if not or its not true i am sure the post will be deleted

This is really disturbing!!!!!!!!! Holland Motor since its conception was built on "over-night" service. Holland was the central states leader in this area for many ....many years, and received numerous awards for this service.
Just recently YRC new letter just came out. One of the blogs by Mike Smid CEO made a statement that "over night service" was NOT a viable means of making money as the market changed!!!!! All these past years Holland was very successful in doing so via this means........now YRC thinks differently!!!!!!!!! This is another good example how YRC does NOT have a clue how to run a trucking company. I've been with Holland for 30 years...........over night service worked all these years and we were making money.....what a shame what is happening !:realmad:
