Hi I was wondering how can one go from a part time dockworker to a full time driver for FedEx National LTL? I currently work as a part time dockworker for FedEx National and I was wondering how I could become a driver some time down the road. There is a dockworker where I work who will be attending the FedEx National Driver Development Course in a few weeks. Is there anyway I can do that?

I would like to express my feeling about working for FEDEX. Many have complained that this company has changed since the Watkins days and that may be true, since I was not a Watkins employee, I cannot comment on that, but I have been with National for almost 2 years now and I feel fortunate to be here. We have good pay with overtime after 8 hours(not many companies pay OT that way) Our benifits are very good, especially compared to other companies. We drive good equipment, maybe the best in the LTL industry(just look at some of the other companies), and at least at my CS, we are treated rather well most of the time. We have a new TM who is liked and respected and I feel will lead us in the right direcation. People have a right to express their opinions, but much of what I read is in my opinion sour grapes by many who just like to complain. You have the freedom to work somewhere else if you are not happy here. Be happy you have a job with a company on firm ground and not in danger of going under like some other carriers MAY be in danger of doing. Employess at those carriers have alot to complain about, do we? I don"t really believe we do. My opinion only.:shift:

Hello.

Well after applying in Sept 15 2009 . For fulltime City P@D, and fulltime road driver position's. For both Fedex National and Fedex Freight.

For the Columbus and West Jeff Terminal. I received a phone call 2-3 weeks ago for a short phone interview.

Now Ben C the hiring Manager out of Columbus, For Fedex National called me for a interview next Friday. Well hot Damn looking forward to it.

Question if this interview goes well. What's left after that before i start to work. And how long will this take.

The position is Fulltime City P@D driver for National. Do u guys have to work the rock(dock) lol.

I was told starting pay is $18.46 hour tops out. After 3 years making $22.05 hour. I am assuming each year if they give normal raises so will my pay go up 2.

And the interesting thing is they said they like to control. The amount of ot given out. Said work weeks should be 40-45 hours and that it. After working 55-60 hours, this should be a walk in the park.

Well my feeling is it don't matter 2 me. Hope to get hired and have a job, espically a good 1 like this. Looking forward to coming on board.

Peace...

CSA 2010 DSMS (Driver Safety Measurement System) Methodology...

CSA 2010 DSMS (Driver Safety Measurement System) Methodology

We need to think about these things

Under the new rules of CSA 2010...THE DRIVER will also be rated for his driving/safety performance, as well as the company, and this rating will follow him/her to every employer he driver for!

Lets ALL look at this ...If YOU do not pretrip, you will suffer!

If YOU go out without a weight ticket and get a violation at the scales, it also goes against YOU, as well as the company.

If you drive out with cupped, flat spots and worn threads on THEIR tires...YOU will be cited under the new CSA 2010 Rules as well as the company.

If YOU decide to run in with 4 ways flashing at night instead of getting those lights fixed on THEIR equipment...it will go against YOUR safety record under the CSA 2010.

If you have to get another driving job....The CSA 2010 safety rating will follow you from job to job, and may cost you in getting a job.

SO GUYS....think about your pre-trip now....demand the lights to be fixed...demand the bad tires be replaced...and most of all DEMAND a weight ticket for ALL axles no matter how light the load!....IT IS YOUR CDLs...NOT THEIRS!
