| | Some truckers downgraded Second day of the stock market making gains and some truckers can't catch a break.
With some truckers getting further estimate cuts.
NEW YORK (AP) -- An analyst reduced earnings estimates for a slew of trucking companies Tuesday, suggesting that the credit crisis has "begun to wreak havoc in already sluggish freight markets."
Stifel Nicolaus analyst John G. Larkin urged investors to realize that tough times still lay ahead for the group, noting that capacity has not been scaled back fast enough to account for slumping demand. He cut fourth-quarter and full-year earnings estimates for truckers including Arkansas Best Corp., Knight Transportation Inc. and Werner Enterprises Inc. THE financial world is a mess, both in the United States and abroad. Its problems, moreover, have been leaking into the general economy, and the leaks are now turning into a gusher. In the near term, unemployment will rise, business activity will falter and headlines will continue to be scary.
So ... I’ve been buying American stocks.
