In the West this is the week that has always been Employee appreciation week. It fell every year during the week of The NTDC. During the week we would have different things like donuts, fruit, and coffee one day. Ice cream another day. And a bar b que ( or cook out as the East calls them) on another day. Nothing at all this year. You think this was due to the economy or is this something that only the West did

I would say the economy.
No need to spend money in non-revenue
generating projects.

At AF as well as Viking Im sure, we had these little events regularly, it boosted morale as well as made you feel like you were a human being, being rewarded for your hard work.....but my friend this is FEDEX, they will do as much as possible to alienate you as an employee. There will be no more cookouts, free gloves, hat pins, etc. , and sure the economy plays a part, but this is how the company does things....just be glad you have a job, like the Mile marker said, if your not actively engaged, go work for someone else. This is the attitude of the company....like it or not. It might sound negative, but this is the reality, corporate on down......
Freight used to be a hard job where you worked hard, and the company cared about you.... not anymore.

Your appreciated , you have a new GPS in your truck . With the new system you now can be watched as you nap on a get on ramp . Better than a BBQ or Cookout !!! Smile for the eye in the sky !!

They figure instead of giving the employees stuff and having cookouts that just telling us we are appreciated will be more effective. We usually just get a pair of gloves. If my memory is correct we have had 1 cookout in the last 3 years, and that was some award a salesman won. Out with the old and in with the new.....

thats right the hell with the employees,gps alot more important that a silly cookout.
