Sorry to hear that, I hope it works out for you, would you have been called back if you hadn't taken the buyout?

I have spent over 13 and a half years building seniority as a line/road driver and that's how I have paid my dues and that's how I want to be recognized.

well you all say how does everybody else do it well as the last time i looked at the sign it said fedex freight and not conway or anything else and if you like the way someone else does it then quit and go to work for them and as far as im concerned it has worked the way it is for years and it still works so just leave it alone and if you are not happy with it then you may be happier working for someone else and im sure we will all give you the best of luck

Default trimming the fat always a good idea

Off topic to some degree as I responded to the wrong thread but it is related and does include my opinion on the seniority issue in a roundabout way. Centers across the system have let nonessential positions go if there was no demand for another driver and his position was marginal or nonessential it makes sense to save the expense of the benefits. Sounds like the company was practical but fair. Under the seniority after a year and a day policy perhaps he would have been able to transfer to another center and bump someone out of their job? That doesn't sound fair to me. Careful what you wish for people sometimes you end up with more consequences than benefits. Take the proposed health care plan what a mess thats gonna be. Taxes on payrolls = decreased benefits and depressed wages Taxes on consumers means less buying power which takes business away from our customers which leads to more layoffs. This is all related to our current economic crisis and while I feel for those who lose their jobs, I have to say I fully understand and support the company's decisions with regards to keeping costs down. We will all be in a much better position to take advantage of the recovery when it finally (if it finally) happens. In closing I must say that it is never fair to change the rules in the middle of a game every one benefitted by a transfeer granting delayed seniority will adversely affect everyone they displace. Does that really sound right or just selfish considering its not the system people have years of their lives invested in?
